BREAKING NEWS: An elderly woman remains in shock this afternoon (Thursday, 17th September) after two men tricked their way into her flat on the Ocean estate.
The men were both white and described themselves as legitimate visitors. It is not clear whether they said they were from British Gas or the Council. Because they appeared bona fide workers, the resident opened her front door – whereupon the two con artists pushed their way into her flat.
It is believed that the two men stole items from the flat, but no list of missing items has yet been released. Specialist police officers are assisting the victim.
Concerned locals want to make sure that an alert goes out in and around the Ocean estate warning elderly and vulnerable residents to take care – and always ask to see ID cards of anyone calling before they open the door.
