BEFORE YOU wonder why Executive Mayor John Biggs is giving Cubitt Town Library a telling off… worry not – this is a genuine exercise in renewing the flooring. So that the work can be done, the library will be closed for a week – until Friday, 2nd February.
Cllr Maium Miah, Independent Councillor for Canary Wharf, said, “It’s good news that this popular library is being looked after. It’s a charming building – and a heritage site – so we must care for it and keep it in good shape.”
Local library users were also pleased that the library was being improved. However, one local resident added, “Now the Executive Mayor’s got the carpet sorted, I do hope he will have time to find a way to keep the Council’s nurseries open. I am passionate about the library – but I would like to see us investing in the future of our children too.”
