Cyclist dies after collision in Newham

A CYCLIST was left in a critical condition after being involved in a collision with a car at approximately 3.19am on Friday, 24th July. He was taken to hospital, where he died the following day.

The incident occurred on Romford Road, at the junction with Crosby Road, E7. The cyclist has been named as Jay Kristiansen, 31, from Romford.  His next of kin have been informed.

The car involved in the collision was a grey Audi. The driver did not stop at the scene of the accident and police from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit launched an immediate investigation in an attempt to identify and trace him. On Saturday, 25th July, a man in his 20s was arrests on suspicion of failing to stop at the scene of a collision and causing death by dangerous driving. He was released on bail, to return on a date in late August. Police wish to work to establish the full circumstances of the accident.
