Did Trump forget words to national anthem?

US PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP had a day off on 8th January – and went to see a football match between teams from the universities of Georgia and Alabama.

There’s nothing wrong with that, of course – heads of state do have a day off now and then, and going to a football match does promote the sport (not that we can recall the Queen popping down to the Olympic Stadium to catch a West Ham home game in recent years, but the point still holds).

But eagle eyed observers have pointed out that Trump appears to have forgotten the words of his own national anthem. The BBC has published footage of him standing as the crowd sings the anthem – but joining in only with the occasional word.

Perhaps he just had a lot on his mind. But let’s hope he’s not similarly distracted when he’s playing with his buttons…
