DID YOU SEE a collision on Royal Docks Road, at the junction with Claps Gate Lane, E6 on Monday, 12th March? The incident happened just after noon, near a branch of McDonald’s.
A black Audi A3 collided with a car and two lorries which were waiting at red traffic lights. The emergency services were called and sadly the driver of the Audi was pronounced dead at the scene. He was later identified as Gassan Balkot, 31, from Ilford.
The drivers of the three vehicles involved in the collision are helping the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, which is investigating the collision. One of the drivers suffered minor injuries and was taken to an East London hospital and has since been discharged.
Detective Sergeant Mark Palmer, who is investigating the incident, said, “This collision took place at a busy junction in Beckton, close to the Royal Docks retail park. We believe there may have been a number of witnesses who either saw what happened or may have some dash cam footage. I urge anyone to come forward to help us piece together the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.”
