Fatalities on A13: police seek witnesses

A MAN DIED in a collision on the eastbound A13 in Havering on Tuesday morning. The incident occurred between Ferry Lane and the New Roundabout in Rainham. The victim is believed to have been in his 50s.

Reports of the collision reached the emergency services just before 10am – and the police, the London Fire Brigade, the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance all attended.

The man who died had been travelling in one of the vehicles and sadly he was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Police are believed to be trying to trace and inform his next of kin. Formal identification and a post mortem are expected to take place shortly.

Police arrested two male teenagers, both aged 18, at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. They were later released and continue to be part of the police investigation, which is being led by the Serious Collision Investigation Unit.

The police have asked that any witnesses to the incident, or anyone who has any other information which can help the investigation, come forward.

If you can help the police, please telephone them on 020-8597 4874. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800-555 111, where you can give information anonymously.
