Getting to Know One Another

Knowing One Another is a new publication bringing together a range of stories from members of London’s diverse communities living in the top twenty first century world city. It is the culmination of a year-long pilot project delivered by the Brick Lane Circle with funding support from the Big Lottery Fund.

The project engaged ten volunteers from London’s diverse communities to discover and learn more about each other, including their places of origin, through the use of social media, interviews and internet searches.

Diversity brings positive benefits as well as unease and community tension arising from the myriads of cultures and faiths living side by side. The project sought to make positive contributions, through an innovative project, toward improving community cohesion and better understanding between London’s diverse communities.

Now the Brick Lane Circle invites you to join in the celebration to mark the completion of the project. You can pick up a free book and enjoy live music, comedy and vegetarian bites from various parts of the world which has now become part of London. The book offers a wonderful glimpse of the Eritrean, Thai, Ugandan, East African Indian, Bengali, Pashtun, Moroccan, Uyghur and the East End Jewish communities from London.
