FOUR PEOPLE have been arrested by police from the Homicide and Major Crime Command who are investigating last week’s murder in Hackney – and all have been bailed pending further investigations.
A man was stabbed in Cowper Road late in the afternoon of last Wednesday, 17th April. He was found in nearby Matthias Road. The emergency services attended, including the air ambulance, but sadly the victim died at the scene shortly after 6pm. Police believe they have identified the victim but formal identification is awaited.
The four were arrested on suspicion of murder. They include a 62 year old man, who was bailed until a date in mid-May, and three others: a 33 year old woman, a 57 year old man and a 58 year old man.
Police continue to appeal for witness and/or people with information to come forward. Detective Chief Inspector Paul Considine of the Met’s HMCC, said: “This attack took place in the early evening, in a residential street and in broad daylight. There would have been people around and I need those people to call police. Whatever you saw – whether the fatal assault, the events leading up to it or the aftermath – it is vitally important that you call us. It is only by people working with police that we can make London safe and your call may be vital in helping us understand how a young man came to be brutally killed.”
