PLEASE NOTE THAT DUE TO CIRCUMSTANCES BEYOND THEIR CONTROL, THE ORGANISERS HAVE HAD TO CANCEL THE BUNNY RAVE.
THE BOOK CLUB WILL BE OPEN AS USUAL OVER EASTER.
Perhaps your Easter Sunday, on 20th April, will start with a breakfast of ovoid chocolate. Perhaps you’ll sleep in after taking your excesses the night before. However it starts, if you’re out and about in the Hoxton area by 2pm, don’t be surprised if you bump into 500 human sized rabbits. Your mind is not in cocoa-fever or languishing in hung over hell: there really are 500 humans in rabbit costume bounding around in the car park opposite The Book Club.
The Book Club is a multipurpose venue in Leonard Street, and its current focus is making sure that young people can have fun this Easter while keeping up with the seasonal theme at this Easter Bunny Rave with Kigu. The clubbers enter through the back tail of the giant bunny and the two sound systems at either end of the car park. The rabbits will have headphones they can tune into one of the two sound systems on offer: The Cuban Brothers and Reggae Roast. The 500 bunnies will be shaking their booties in a silent disco-meets-rabbit warren, with DJs battling it out from opposing bunny booths. The bunnies will be plied with Easter-themed drinks and hot cross buns fulled with pulled pork. With all the clubbers dressed the same, who will dare going to the bar on their own? The price might be that they lose their “bosom bunny” in a sea of pink ears!
For extra entertainment there will be a pre-rave Easter Egg Hunt around Shoreditch, space hopper and egg & spoon races and choreographed bunny aerobics.
To get the most out of the event, there’s plenty to join in with before the big day.
Competition. To be in with a chance of winning free tickets, booze, and other surprises you’ll need to start #breedinglikebunnies. This means you need to post a selfie of you channelling your inner rabbit (ears, nose, full costume…whatever!) on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram with the hashtag #breedinglikebunnies and tag @thebookclubec2. To be in with more chances of winning, nominate a friend to do the same – and another bunny is born!
Bunny Mix: Get practising on your bunny hop moves with DJ Jawa’s (Daliee’s Jukebox) specially selected mix of bumping house & garage…with a wicked remix of Florence and the Machine kicking it off! https://soundcloud.com/dj_jawa
The event continues until 9pm and tickets (£10 + booking fee from www.wegottickets.com/event/268156) are selling fast. When you buy tickets you will get an exclusive 50% off discount code to purchase a bunny Kigu at www.kigu.co.uk. The Book Club is at www.wearetbc.com.
