Human Relief Foundation kickstart Ghana deployment

AFTER ARRIVING IN ACCRA, the East London and north England based Human Relief Foundation team joined the northern UK contingent to fly to Tamale, the capital city of the northern Region of Ghana.

The first stop on arrival at Tamale Airport was the village of Napilsi, where the team interacted with the locals and surveyed the positive impact of a communal water well and borehole installed two years ago.

The team witnessed the fantastic impact the availability of fresh water has made to the community in general. When visiting this village two years ago, Human Relief Foundation (HRF) found the locals walking far to drink water from a small dirty reservoir which they had to share with animals. HRF returned to see how local lives have been transformed by the borehole well which has been subsequently installed.

Before leaving the site they met the village chief, who blessed the team with words of wisdom and made a collective supplication for the well-being of all volunteers, well wishers and donors. He said to the team, “We want to remind you that we are praying for you all the time.”

The next day saw the team visit the Savelugu-Nanton District and Moglaa. The programme commenced courtesy of HRF Secours Humanitaire, Ghana and included a trip to see the new Nanton Mosque – all donated by one benefactor, Mrs Kirati & family from France, in memory of their son Benjamin Foued.

The opening of the much anticipated new Abu Bakr As Siddique school complex in Kpaling achieved another milestone, with the provision of free education made available to hundreds of local children.

Liverpudlian Shaikh Adam Kelwick, marketing Co-ordinator at the Human Relief Foundation, commented, “The generosity of Ghana knows no bounds. We thought it was us gifting them, but we left their village with a pile of yam, four guinea fowl and a goat. Their chief quoted the hadith ‘Whoever believes in God and the last day will be generous to his guest.’”
