THE SUMMER SIGNINGS opened at the East End’s Leyton Orient with former Orient player Josh Wright adding his moniker to the dotted line as he bounced back to his old club.
Wright began his career south of the river before heading up north for a two year stint at Scunthorpe United. He returned to the capital in 2011 to spend four seasons at Millwall – south of the river again. During those years Wright was loaned out to Orient on two occasions – making the permanent move after the second loan period.
Wright only had a short term contract, however, and soon he was off again – to Gillingham (well south of the river, that one). Wright did well at Gillingham, taking up the captaincy in his second season – as well as scoring 14 goals and being named Gillingham’s player of the season and the players’ player of the season.
Just over two years ago Wright cross the Thames estuary to join Southend United, heading further north after just one season to Bradford City, where he immediately became captain. Now he’s back in East London – on a two year deal.
•Wright’s move comes a day after the Orient announced their pre-season calendar, which starts on 6th July with a trip up to Harlow Town. For the full calendar, go to:
