Leytonstone man survives shooting

POLICE ARE appealing to the public after a 28 year old man was shot in Birch Grove, Leytonstone, E11 just after 11.30 am this morning, 17th June.

The emergency services turned out in force when the report of a shooting came in. As well as the usual police and paramedics in ambulances, armed police and the air ambulances attended – and found the injured man.

The victim was taken to hospital, where his condition is not life threatening or life changing. His next of kin are aware of the incident. Extra police patrols are taking place in the area this evening, in the hope of reassuring the community.

The police have launched an investigation into the incident. Anyone who saw the shooting, or was in the area of Birch Grove this morning or who has any information about the incident is asked to contact police via 101 and quote reference CAD 2859/17 June. Alternatively you can contact Crimestoppers on 0800-555 111 and give information anonymously.
