Life for Rainham man after horrific murder

RODNEY PARLOUR, 51, died from multiple injuries – a total of 67 injuries were found on his body during a post mortem. The man who inflicted those fatal injuries has now been sentenced to life imprisonment.

Marc Croxson, 48, of no fixed abode, murdered Rodney Parlour on 2nd October last year at Parlour’s home in Hood Road, Rainham. The emergency services were called by a neighbour who was concerned about Mr Parlour – but sadly the police and London Ambulance Service found his body.

Croxson, whose sister was a friend of Mr Parlour, was arrested on suspicion of murder on 5th October. He was found guilty of murder by the unanimous verdict of a jury on 26th March. He was sentenced to life imprisonment on 20th April – with an order that he serve 24 years before he can be considered for parole.

At the sentencing hearing, the Court heard that Croxson had previously been sentenced to five and a half years in prison for rape and assault. The Judge told Croxson that the ferocious, sustained attack he carried out on Mr Parlour must have felt like torture to the victim. Every part of Mr Parlour’s body had been injured. The 67 injuries recorded at the post mortem included 17 broken ribs. The Judge also paid tribute to Mr Parlour’s family, who had remained very dignified throughout the trial.

Detective Chief Inspector Gary Holmes of the Homicide and Major Crime Command, who led the investigation, said, “Life in prison is exactly what Croxson deserves for murdering Rodney Parlour who was a frail and vulnerable individual; and London is a safer place with him locked up behind bars. He is an extremely violent individual who has years of violent offending history. He showed no mercy to his poor victim, who suffered horrific injuries at his hands; he took away a loved family member and friend to many.”
