Man dead in Woodford hit and run

A 78 YEAR OLD MAN was run down by a white VW Golf in Woodford Road, at the junction with Bedford Road, E18. The incident happened at approximately 6.30pm on Sunday, 5th November.

The emergency services attended. Sadly paramedics from the London Ambulance Service had to declare the man dead at the scene. The victim’s next of kin have been informed and police await formal identification.

The driver of the vehicle which collided with the pedestrian did not stop. The vehicle was found in a nearby street. Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Serious Collision Investigation Unit are investigating the incident and have not made any arrests to date.
