Man survives Newham shooting

ONE YOUNG MAN is lucky to be alive today after surviving a shooting in Newham on Tuesday this week. Police officers from the Metropolitan Police Trident and Area Crime Command have launched an investigation and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Police became aware of the incident at around 10.15pm on Tuesday, as reports came in of gun shots being heard in Biggerstaff Road, Stratford, E15. Police found nothing in that road – but they found the victim a short distance away. The victim was taken to hospital and it is thought that his injuries are not life-threatening.

Police are trying to piece together what happened. So far it seems that the victim was sat in a vehicle when another vehicle pulled up alongside it, a number of people got out and one of them shot at the car – or its occupant.

Anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident or who has any information about it is asked to call DS Nick Hamer from the Trident and Area Crime Command on 020-8217 7382. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800-555 111, where you can give information anonymously.
