Murder in Stratford shopping centre

POLICE HAVE confirmed that the disturbance in the Stratford shopping centre in the Stratford Broadway at around 9.30pm last Tuesday was caused by a man being stabbed. The victim later died.

The emergency services attended the incident but, despite their best efforts to save him, paramedics had to declare the victim had died at 10.30pm. His next of kind have been informed. Formal identification and a post mortem are expected.

The incident is being investigated by the Homicide and Major Crime Command. The initial reports suggest that the stabbing occurred during an argument or fight between a gang of young men. Police are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the fight in order to establish precisely what occurred.
