Newham teen found with lethal knife/hammer

A TEENAGER WAS found out and about on the streets of Newham with a dangerous weapon last week. The item was a combined knife/hammer.

The youngster, 17, was found to be carrying the weapon during a stop and search operation carried out by the Metropolitan Police Violent Crime Taskforce. He was arrested on suspicion of being in possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and taken to an East London Police Station.

Inspector Peter Moxham from the Violent Crime Taskforce said, “We conduct both highly visible and plain clothed patrols and we may travel in marked or unmarked vehicles. We often go unnoticed, but please be assured – you may not always see us but that doesn’t mean we are not around.”
