Police appeal for witnesses to Whitechapel stabbing

A TEENAGER was stabbed in Whitechapel on Friday, 14th July – and police are appealing to members of the public who were in the area at the time to come forward.

Police and the London Ambulance Service were called to Brick Lane at around 4.20pm that Friday and found a 17 year old boy with stab wounds. He was taken to an East London hospital where, fortunately, his injuries were found to be not life-threatening and he soon achieved a stable condition.

The following day, a 17 year old male was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. He was taken to an East London police station and later released pending further investigation.

Police officers now need help from the public to piece together what went on that afternoon. It is vital that as many people who were in the area that afternoon come forward so that police can eliminate innocent members of the public from their inquiries.

Anyone who witnessed the stabbing, was in the area or who has any other information should phone Tower Hamlets CID at Bethnal Green on 020-7275 4602. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800-555 111, where you can give information anonymously.
