HE WAS STANDING on Green Bank, E1, having a cigarette when he was approached by three men on bicycles. And then he was stabbed. No reason; no warning – just stabbed in the leg.
The incident occurred at approximately 10.30pm on Saturday, 28th April. The victim, 29, was taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service. It was found that the stab injury had damaged an artery, and the victim has had to endure substantial medical treatment in hospital.
Tower Hamlets police are investigating and they have now released CCTV still which show the three suspects. As well as the three cyclists, there is also a picture of a man walking down Green Bank, pulling a wheeled bag behind him, who may have been a witness to the attack.
Detective Constable Ian Arrowsmith, who is leading the investigation, explained why the images have now been released. “Although these CCTV stills are not great in quality, they may jog someone’s memory about the events of that evening,” he explained. “I am particularly keen to trace the man seen wheeling a bag behind him – he may hold vital information that could help us trace those responsible for this vicious attack.”
