Ramadan card makers help end of life charity

Emdad Rahman

The An Naba Network organised a fun Ramadan community event to bring people together while also supporting a worthy charitable cause. A card making workshop was arranged for kids and big kids (adults!) to help bring smiles to the elderly and terminally sick.

The popular event was hosted by Chapters Coffee Community Cafe in Goodmayes to support Eden Care End of Life Care group and all profits will go towards the charity.

The fun pop-in event was a hit with the kids and their parents. Zainab, aged nine, thoroughly enjoyed herself. She said, “It’s been like a long play time today and I have had so much fun with my aunts. Since I’m fasting it’s made the afternoon go fast and best of all we have raised money for charity.”

Khalid said, “We set up Naba networking at university as we wanted a bubbly and fun forum for people to make friends, enjoy each others’ company and support charitable causes. We arranged a Moroccan tea party recently and were able to raise enough for water wells in Malawi and Pakistan.

“It was during a trek to Leath Hill for Eden Care when I found out about burial funds. These cards are for the terminally ill and we hope to bring about some smiles. It’s Ramadan and we have raised money, enjoyed meeting new people. The kids have been productive and we have all mingled – all this for a great cause.”
