Saffron pastries withdrawn after rodent scare

IT’S RODENTS again! There has been a series of food retailers withdrawing products from sale due to potential rodent contamination. The latest is Saffron Pastries.

The company provides a series of cakes, rusks and biscuits – and the products they are recalling may have been contaminated by rodents. Not all products are affected – but there is a very long list of products that are being recalled – some of them with long best before dates, going into 2027.

Notices will go up in shops explaining why the products are being recalled. Anyone who has a Saffron Pastries product is advised not to eat it and to go into the shop where you bought it. You should look at the point of sale notice, or ask the shop, if the product you have is one of those being recalled.
