Scintilla lose derby but recover for NCL win

Emdad Rahman

BOTH SCINTILLA TEAMS suffered disappointing derby day losses to rivals Barking but recovered to beat Redbridge in the National Cricket League the day after. Both Zisan Abedin and Yesin Arafat’s men failed to recover after promising starts.

In the Essex Sunday League, Scintilla tied their game against Hainault at Clayhall.

Ayaz Karim’s Sunday team boosted morale by comprehensively defeating Redbridge at Low Hall. A partnership of 54 between Karim and Adil Bhatti was useful in building up a decent lead. Sajal Rahman took three scalps, while Zisan Abedin and Junaed Tanin maintained good line and length as Redbridge were dispatched within 25 overs.

Captain Karim commented, “We did well to grind out a decent win but we need more runs and sharper bowling. This is a step up for us and we must be consistent from start to finish if we want to make a real impact in this league.”
