POLICE HAVE asked the public to help find two suspects whom they wish to question in connection with a violent attack on a man in Barking – apparently carried out as part of an attempted robbery.
The attack took place at around 6.45pm on Tuesday, 17th July. A man, 31, was making his way to his home in Timber Court, Abbey Road when he was attacked by two males who had been following him.
As the victim reached the communal stairwell to the block where his flat was, the two men stabbed him twice in the torso and took his money and mobile. They told him to give them his phone password, and when he refused they stabbed him again. The victim pleaded with the suspects to call an ambulance, but they ran of.
The victim managed to reach his flat, from where he called the London Ambulance Service, who alerted police. The victim was taken to an East London hospital, where he was treated for his injuries.
The suspects are described as a white man with a black hooded top and backpack, and a black man with a brown T-shirt which had a white logo and who was carrying a knife. Three teenagers – aged 15, 16 and 18 – were arrested later that day on suspicion of robbery. They have since been released under investigation.
Investigating officer PC Steven King from the East Area Priority Crime Unit said, “This is an appalling attack on an innocent man on his way back home. Despite the victim pleading with the suspects to call for medical assistance, they left him bleeding on the stairwell without his phone and cash.”
