Residents are invited to come along and enjoy a season of summer evening markets in Tower Hamlets this July. The summer market sessions will take place in Whitechapel and at Watney market on Friday and Saturday evenings between 7pm and 11pm, from June 27th to July 26th.
Visitors and bargain-hunters can enjoy a relaxing evening of eating out, shopping or a laid-back browse through a range of goods and foods from around the world.
Lutfur Rahman, Mayor of Tower Hamlets, said: “Tower Hamlets’ markets are always buzzing in the summer, and this year we are going to make the most of this by running evening markets in Whitechapel and Watney. Our summer evening markets will be generally more dedicated to eating out, shopping and leisurely strolling than the borough’s day markets, and I encourage residents to come along and soak up the atmosphere.”
A team of Markets Enforcement Officers will patrol the evening markets to ensure that all traders are licenced, that any food sellers comply with health and safety standards, and that noise and disturbance are kept to a minimum. Any illegal street traders will be dealt with through advisory or official warnings, fixed penalty notices, or prosecution.
