A KNIFE IS OFF the streets of East London, and a teenager will now have to face up to the consequences of having it in his possession following swift action by the police earlier this month.
Officers from the Metropolitan Police Violent Crime Task Force were out on patrol in Vicarage Lane, E6, on 13th January. At around 1am, they saw a young man acting suspiciously and went towards him. The young man ran off and the police officers ran after him. They detailed him in Becket Avenue, E6.
The young man was searched and found to have a knife in his possession. He was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon and taken into custody.
Sergeant Ben Mullender of the Metropolitan Police Violent Crime Task Force said, “There can be no excuse for someone to be carrying a knife like this on our streets. My officers in the Violent Crime Taskforce are relentless in their efforts to tackle knife crime and thanks to them another weapon has been removed from the streets that may otherwise have been used to harm someone.”
