Third arrest in Ozkan murder case

DETECTIVES CONTINUE to hunt for the killer of Barking teenager Hasan Ozkan, who was found in Abbey Road, Barking at around 10pm on 3rd February – non-responsive, with multiple stab wounds. He died at the scene.

Now a third teenager has been arrested: an 18 year old male, arrested in Barking on suspicion of murder, was taken into custody last week. He is now on bail, due to return to the police station in mid-March.

The latest arrest follows after two youngsters – one aged 15, the other 19 – were arrested on suspicion a few days after the killing. They too have been bailed until mid-March.

At this stage of the investigation, the officers from the Homicide and Major Crime Command who are leading the operation have renewed their appeal to the public to come forward with information which will help them find the killers and bring them to justice – before they go on to harm anther teenager.

•STORY UPDATE: The day after the third teenager was arrested on suspicion of murder in this case, a fourth person was arrested. This was a 20 year old man, who was arrested in Hackney – also on suspicion of murder. He was taken to an east London police station, where he remains in custody. Police officers continue to appeal for information from the public.

DCI Larry Smith, who is leading the investigation, said, “We have made arrests but we are still appealing for information so we can establish the circumstances which led to a young man losing his life. It is vital that those out there with information who haven’t yet done so contact the police.

“I would like to appeal to anyone who saw a group of males loitering in the area on the evening of the attack. Were you there? Did you see the suspects arrive or leave the scene? Anyone with information is requested to call the incident room on 020-8345 3985. Your call will be treated in the strictest confidence.”

Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800-555 111, where you can give information anonymously.
