HERE’S OUR penultimate “thought” on peace – from a US president with a military background who was probably more a warmonger than a peacemonger, a supporter of the status quo with some mitigating factors. Whether intended or otherwise, his dry comment does hit the nail on the head – in a peaceful way, of course. In April, we remember the anti-nuclear weapons Aldermaston march: our “Thoughts” this month will concentrate on aspects of peace.
“I think that people want peace so much that one of these days government had better get out of their way and let them have it.”
Dwight D. Eisenhower 1890-1969, US President 1953-1961
