POLICE WERE quick to act when reports came in that a group of five teenagers were fighting in Listowell Road, Dagenham. Witnesses reported that the youngsters had knives and bats – and police were soon on site.
The incident occurred during the early hours of Sunday morning, 26th July. Fortunately, it seems that none of the youths had been injured. The police arrested three young men – one aged 16 and two aged 17. They were all taken to an East London police station and charged with affray and possession of an offensive weapon.
The 16 year old appeared at Barkingside Youth Court on 28t July. He was released on bail and is due to return to the Court on 10th August.
The 17 year olds were to appear at Barkingside Youth Court on a later date.
The police issued a reminder to the public that carrying a knife or other offensive weapon can lead to others, or even the carrier, being injured or even killed – and the perpetrators finding themselves with a criminal record and a long jail sentence.
