POLICE ARE trying to identify and locate a man who committed a violent assault in Hackney on Sunday, 13th September. They have released a CCTV image of their suspect and appealed to the public for help.
The assault occurred just after 1am, when a 25 year old woman was standing in the smoking area of a bar in Kingsland Road. A man approached her and tried to start a conversation. They did exchange some words but she was not interested in starting a conversation.
However, within minutes the man jumped over a fence and rushed at her. He punched her face several times and then ran off. The victim had to go to hospital to receive treatment to a large cut across her cheek.
Police Constable Kyri Soupashis from the Central East Command Unit is investigating. He said, “While we appreciate the image isn’t the clearest quality, I believe someone out there will recognise this man and be able to tell us who he is. This was a frightening and cowardly attack and it is imperative we find the person responsible.”
Anyone who has any information which may assist police is asked to contact them via 101 and quote reference CAD571/13SEP20. Alternatively you can contact Crimestoppers on 0800-555 111 and give information anonymously.
