Witness appeals

Officers are appealing for witnesses to a fatal collision on the A12 in Chadwell Heath. Police were called at 22:15hrs on Sunday, 20th July to a Vauxhall Corsa in collision with barriers on the A12 near to the Moby Dick junction. The Corsa had not been reported as lost or stolen.

A 19-year-old man was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene. He is believed to have been the front seat passenger in the car. Officers believe they know the identity of the deceased but await formal identification and confirmation that next of kin have been informed. A 21-year-old man, believed to have been the driver of the car, was taken to hospital. He has been arrested and he remains at hospital. His condition is not believed to be serious. A 20-year-old woman, believed to have been the rear seat passenger, was also taken to hospital where her condition is serious but not life-threatening.

Anyone who witnessed the collision should call officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 020 8597 4874 or via 101.

 

Police would also like to hear from anyone who either witnessed or has information concerning the robbery of a man in his own home at Parnell Road, E3 at midday on Saturday, 12th July. Two male suspects entered the 72-year-old victim’s home through an open door and after hitting him several times proceeded to ransack the property taking jewellery, cash, a mobile phone and a camera. The victim suffered bruising as a result of this incident.

Both suspects were aged 21-29 years, of Eastern European origin and were speaking Albanian, Bulgarian or Bosnian. One suspect wore a grey hooded tracksuit.  The other wore a black leather jacket, blue jeans and a balaclava. Both ran from Parnell Road into Lefevre Walk in the direction of Garrison Road.
