Woman charged after murder in Bow

JUST DAYS AGO, Alan Geary, 46, was stabbed to death at an address in Navenby Walk, Bow, E3. Three hours later, a woman was stabbed at an address in the same street. Now police have charged a woman in connection with the stabbings.

It was shortly after midnight on Saturday, 23rd November that reports came in to police of a stabbing in Navenby Walk. Police attended, along with the London Ambulance Service, and found Mr Geary He was taken to hospital, but later died from his injuries. While they were still at the address in Navenby Walk, police arrested two men, aged 45 and 23, and a woman aged 21 on suspicion of murder. All three suspects were later released without charge.

At approximately 3am, reports came in to police of second stabbing in Navenby Walk, at a different address. Officers returned to the area and found a woman, 56, who was suffering from stab injuries. She was taken to hospital and has now been discharged. On this second occasion officers arrested a 21 year old woman, whom they later charge in connection with both incidents.

The woman who was arrested has been named as Fatima Umar, 21, of Navenby Walk, E3. She has been charged with murder, in connection with the stabbing of Mr Geary, and with attempted murder in connection with the second stabbing. Ms Umar appeared at Thames Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 25th November, where she was remanded in custody to appear at the Old Bailey later in the week.
