LED BY Capital Kids Cricket (CKC), the Bowl Out Racism campaign was launched on 28th January 2022 at the MCC Academy, Lord’s. As part of the launch, the men’s ICC World Cup trophy was on display to promote the campaign.
Working with partners – including the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), the Mayor of London’s Office, the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), County Cricket Clubs, and others within and beyond the cricket family – the campaign will focus on education and raising awareness from grassroots level to the professional arena.
Bowl Out Racism will make it clear that there is no place for racism and discrimination in our game – or in wider society. The launch focused on bringing key partners together behind a commitment to “bowl out racism” so that we can enjoy cricket together, in an atmosphere of mutual respect.

Our campaign will focus on three key areas.
•Education
We shall work with schools, clubs, and partners to develop and deliver educational workshops and materials that can be used by teachers, parents, and coaches to educate children and young people about racism and all forms of discrimination. We want to see these resources used in formal settings, such as schools and club, but also in community settings so that young people learn how to recognise discrimination and what they can do to help eradicate it.
•Raising awareness
We shall promote understanding – embracing, and celebrating different cultures, backgrounds, and beliefs.
•Respect
Using the “Spirit of Cricket” as a foundation, we shall promote equality and respect – both on and off the field of play.
During the launch, 50 children from four London state schools (Old Ford Primary, Little Ealing Primary, Gateway Primary, and London Enterprise Academy) took part in cricket activities together with representatives from the ECB, the Mayor of London’s office, the London Assembly, County Cricket Boards, the MCC Foundation, and the ACE Programme.
