ONE MAN has been killed and a second man has been wounded after a double stabbing in Silvertown, Newham. The dead man has been named as Mark Orabiyi, 35.
A report that a man had been stabbed in Pankhurst Avenue came in to the emergency services at around 9am on Friday morning. Mr Orabiyi was found in a garden in nearby Rayleigh Road. He was taken to hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival. A second man was found with stab wounds in the same area. He was taken to hospital and remains there. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening or life-changing.
Police arrested three people near the scene on suspicion of murder. One man, 27, has been released on bail pending further inquiries. A second man, 24, and a woman, 25, have been released with no further action.
The police have released a statement from Mr Orabiyi’s family, which reads:
“We will always cherish his kindness, beautiful spirit, and remarkable talent. His presence touched many lives, and his memory will remain in our hearts forever. May his soul rest in perfect peace.”
Detective Chief Inspector Joanna Yorke is leading the police investigation. She extended her condolences to Mr Orabiyi’s family and confirmed that the police investigation is proceeding at speed. She asked for anyone who has any information about the stabbing, particularly those who may have CCTV or an other footage, to contact the police.
