POLICE HAVE today arrested a 22 year old man in connection with the murder of 18 year old Sami Sidhom from Newham. He has been taken to an East London Police Station, where he remains in custody as police inquiries continue.
At this stage it seems that Sami had been out that evening at a West Ham matched. He got off a bus in Romford Road and as he walked to his home in Chestnut Avemie he was attacked by a number of suspects.
Sami was murdered last Monday. A post mortem has confirmed that the cause of death was multiple stab wounds. One week on, the police were due to go out in Chestnut Avenue, E7, where Sami died, trying to jog memories and collect more information from the public. They are particularly keen to speak to anyone who saw a car driving off after the attack.
The Metropolitan Police Homicide and Major Crime Command is in charge of the investigation. Detective Inspector John Marriott said, “We are keen to hear from anyone who may have been in the area that night and may have seen or heard anything. It doesn’t matter how big or small you think your information may be; it could be the piece of the puzzle that helps bring the person that killed a young man to justice.”
Detective Chief Inspector Mark Wrigley, who is leading the investigation, said, “This investigation continues and while the motive for this horrific attack still remains unclear, we are making progress. I now appeal to those people in the community who know what took place or who is responsible to come forward and give Sami’s family the justice they deserve.”
