Hackney man jailed for burglary

A MAN has been jailed for two years and four months for a burglary committed in Hackney.

The man convicted has been named as Khair Watson, 37, of no fixed address.  He committed a burglary on 3rd January this year, during which he stole £200.  He was arrested on ten days later and charged the following day. Watson admitted the charges at a hearing in March at Wood Green Crown Court and was sentenced at a second hearing.

Police Constable Francis Ashton from Central East CID (which covers Hackney and Tower Hamlets) investigated the matter. He said, “It is very important that our communities know that we are still out there catching criminals during these difficult times […]. Watson was forensically linked to the burglary in Hackney by his fingerprints, while a footprint and footwear that were recovered and linked to him also proved crucial to the case.”
