ANOTHER MURDER investigation is underway in Hackney, after a 20 year old man was stabbed in the early hours of this morning – and died at the scene.
The scene has been cordoned off and road closures are in place, with police asking people to avoid the area as disruption to traffic expected.
The Metropolitan Police have confirmed that the emergency services received reports of a stabbing at Monteagle Way on the Nightingale Estate, E5 at midnight. Police and the ambulance service got there quickly – but paramedics could not save the man, who died at 00.15hrs.
Police have confirmed that they know the identity of the victim and that next of kin have been informed, but they have not officially released his name. However, the victim has been named by some newspapers as 21 year old Kaan Aslan, who was returning from a shift as a Deliveroo driver. Police expect a post mortem to be held shortly to confirm the cause of death.
The murder hunt is being conducted by the Metropolitan Police Homicide and Major Crime Command. At this early stage, there is no indication of why the attack occurred. Police are appealing for anyone who was in the area of the Nightingale Estate at around midnight on 13th-14th November to come forward so that they can piece together a picture of what was going on.
