TWO MEN from the Isle of Dogs were sentenced last week at Snaresbrook Crown Court after a police investigation into an assault charge uncovered a drug dealing network.
A 31 year old man was assaulted in Hackney Road, E2, back in December 2014. He received facial injuries which needed stitches. As police investigated the assault, they came across evidence suggesting that Conor Armstrong and Steve Brissett were involved in supplying cannabis.
Armstrong was arrested at Epping High Road, Buckhurst Hill in October 2017. Cash totalling £25,000 was later recovered from an address linked to him in Greenhithe, Kent.
Brissett was arrested at his home address in December 2017. He admitted being a street dealer and half a kilo of cannabis was found in the premises. Over £6,000 in cash was recovered from him.
The two were sentenced at Snaresbrook Crown Court, which heard that Armstrong supplied quantities of cannabis to Brissett.
Conor Armstrong, 26, of Byng Street, E14, pleaded guilty to charges of assault, dangerous driving and being concerned in the supply of cannabis. He received prison sentences totalling three years and two months.
Steve Brissett, 20, of Tiller Rod, E14, pleased guilty to being concerned in the supply of cannabis and received a suspended sentence of 16 months imprisonment.
PC Jon Privett of Tower Hamlets CID said, “An investigation into a violent offender uncovered a network of drug supply. Both offenders have now been convicted and we hope this reduces the level of drug fuelled violence on the streets of Tower Hamlets.”
