Man arrested in fatal Bow bike collision case

POLICE INVESTIGATING the death of Peter McCombie, 72, have arrested a 22 year old man.

Mr McCombie was critically injured after a collision between himself and a cyclist took place on Bow Road, near Thames Magistrates Court, on 3rd July. He received emergency medical treatment and was taken to hospital, but sadly he died in hospital on 11th July.

The cyclist who collided with Mr McCombie did not stop after the incident and police have spent over two weeks trying to identify him. Police were able to release CCTV footage of the cyclist near the scene and, shortly afterwards, abandoning his bicycle and running off.

A 22 year old man came into a police station in the early hours of 28th July. Police arrested him on suspicion of manslaughter and wanton and furious driving.
