Mile end stadium hosts RNIB Glow Run 2015

The Glow Run 2015 took place at Mile End Stadium last Friday. The evening saw 200 runners take part to raise money for and awareness about the services provided by the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB).

Inspired by the colourful full moon parties held in Thailand, and raising money for the RNIB, the Glow Run is a night time 3km fun run – with a difference. Participants on the night ran, walked or danced the route while simultaneously being sprayed with glow water and lit up by an Ultra Violet backlight as they went on their way. There was motivating music to guarantee the most fun night run in the UK.

Talha Choudhury took part in the Glow Run. He said: “It’s been great fun. I have met some really nice people. The atmosphere is happy and relaxed, and the cause is a great one. I would encourage everyone to sign up next year.”

The RNIB is a registered charity and membership body for blind people and those with sight problems. It’s the leading source of information on sight loss and the issues affecting blind and partially sighted people in the UK.

Living with sight loss can be challenging but the team at the RNIB believes everyone affected by sight loss should be able to face the future with confidence. Wayne Coles from RNIB said: “We provide the support, advice and products needed to remain independent. It has been a good turnout and the main thing is that all the participants have had a great time while raising the profile of what the RNIB does.”
