Orient announces memorial service for Justin Edinburgh

CHELMSFORD CATHEDRAL will host a memorial service for former Leyton Orient Head Coach Justin Edinburgh. The service will be held on Tuesday, 16th July.

The service will allow those who knew and admired Justin to pay their respects, following his death on 8th June at the age of 49. Justin suffered a cardiac arrest on Monday, 3rd June – just after returning from watching the Champions League final in Madrid. He was rushed to hospital, but died on the following Saturday.

The news of Justin’s death hit the Club and supporters hard – partly because it was so sudden and unexpected but also because he had given so much to the Orient, being credited for the Club’s return to the Football League.

The Cathedral – in Duke Street, Chelmsford CM1 1EH – is expected to be full as current and past players from the Orient join Justin’s family and friends in celebrating his life. Fans can apply for a maximum of two tickets, which will be allocated by ballot.

The service will be open to family flowers only, with friends and supporters being asked to make a donation to the Justin Edinburgh Foundation in lieu of flowers. The Foundation has been set up by Justin’s wife and daughters. To donate, go to:

To apply for the tickets, email the full name(s) of up to two applicants to Elizabeth Freeman by midday on Thursday, 4th July. Successful applicants will be notified. To apply, email:
