Show off your blooms!

Move over Chelsea Flower Show – East Enders have the chance to show off their horticultural skills in the Council’s annual gardening competition. The Tower Hamlets in Bloom competition rewards those who help to make the borough bright and beautiful. From balconies, community gardens and allotments to patios, businesses and schools, the competition is open to anyone who makes the most of open spaces.

The Council’s competition is part of a nationwide scheme to encourage people to become interested in plants, wildlife and the environment. It has been running since 1971 and is not just for experienced gardeners but for schools, community organisations and novice gardeners alike. The competition has many different categories and is open to residents, businesses, community groups and schools.

To enter the competition, download an application form from the Council’s website, fill it in (using block capitals and including your postcode), and return it to the address on the form. The deadline for applications is Friday, 12th June.

The competition will be judged throughout late June and early July. Please note that ALL entries must be visible or accessible to the passing public, except for the allotment, wildlife-friendly garden and the educational establishment categories.
