Staff foil armed robber at Bow newsagent

A BRAVE MEMBER of staff stopped an early morning attempted robbery at a newsagent in Roman Road, Tower Hamlets, E2 in the early hours of Tuesday morning, 18th June.

A man came into the newsagent at about 6am. He produced a knife and seemed to want to rob the newsagent. A member of staff, a man in his mid-30s, challenged the would-be robber – and there was a struggle.

The member of staff received minor injuries, but did not need to go to hospital. The would-be robber ran off, without taking any property with him.

The Metropolitan Police are now trying to trace the robber. They are looking through local CCTV footage and videos which have been posted on social media.

Anyone who saw a man acting suspiciously in the area early on Tuesday morning or who has any other information about this incident is asked to contact police via 101 and quote CAD 1127/18Jun. Alternatively you can contact Crimestoppers on 0800-555 111 and give information anonymously.
