THE M25 was closed in both directions last night, 31st July, between Junction 25 (Enfield) and Junction 27 (M11) after a fatal crash on the anti-clockwise carriage.
The closure began at around 6.45pm and went on for some hours. It led to chaos for local traffic – which was made worse after an accident on the Junction 26 sliproad.
Emergency repairs to the M25 Dartford Crossing led to a 16 mile tailback on the M25, giving drivers a two hour delay and further compounding local traffic problems. The long waits saw a number of vehicles break down.
The police are appealing for any witnesses to the M25 crash to come forward. The collision is reported to have involved two vehicles and a pedestrian. The drivers of the two vehicles stopped at the scene of the accident and are assisting police with their investigation.
The pedestrian is known to have been male but no further information has yet been released. He suffered serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. No one else was injured in the incident. No arrests have been made and police inquiries continue.
