Woman stabbed in lift in Hoxton

HAVE YOU SEEN a man hanging round Hoxton – in the Wimbourne Street and Shaftesbury Street area? A woman has been stabbed in a lift in a Hoxton block – and police believe the suspect may have been hanging round the flats for days.

The incident took place just before 3pm yesterday (Thursday, 19th April) in Wimbourne Court, N1. Police and the London Ambulance Service attended and found a 41 year old woman suffering from stab wounds to the chest and abdomen. An ambulance took her to an East London hospital. Her condition is described as serious but stable.

Detective Sergeant Barry Hart, Hackney CID, said, “We have established that the woman was stabbed in the lift of a block of flats by a male suspect. It is possible that this male suspect has been hanging around the block – Wimbourne Court, off Wimbourne Street and Shaftesbury Street in Hoxton – both immediately before and in the days leading up to the stabbing. We need to hear from anyone who has seen a suspicious male in and around Wimbourne Court, as well as anyone with information that may assist the investigation.”

Anyone who was in the area at the time or has any information about the stabbing is asked to contact Hackney CID on 020-7275 3410 or via 101 and to quote reference 4533/19April. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800-555 111, where you can give information anonymously.
