Ballot opens for London Landmarks Half Marathon 2022

OVER 11,000 RUNNERS set off on 1st August to run the London Landmarks Half Marathon – and plans are already afoot to allocate places for the 2022 event – LLHM 2022.

The 2021 Half Marathon was finally held after a series of cancellations and postponements caused by the various restrictions put in place to prevent the spread of Covid. The theme this year was to recognise the landmark moments of the community coming together during the Covid 19 pandemic. Over £5 was donated for baby charity Tommy’s, which organises the event, and 200 other charity partners – bringing the total raised by the LLHM to over £21.

The ballot for LLHM2022 opens on 23rd August and closes on 1st September, with results being announced later that month. Over 25,000 runners have pre-registered, hoping to win a place in next year’s event, which will take as its theme “the grand, the hidden and the quirky”. The run will showcase some of the capital’s best known landmarks, such as Big Ben, St Paul’s Cathedral, the Shard and the Tower of London. Less well known landmarks will also feature, such as Dr Samuel Johnson’s house, the Bow Bells and hidden Roman Baths.

Lia Fyles, London Landmarks Half Marathon Race Director, said, “I’m so excited that we can launch the ballot for 2022 – it really signifies optimism for the future. To have over 25,000 people already interested in running the London Landmarks Half Marathon next year is beyond our expectations. We wish everyone who enters the ballot the best of luck.”

The ballot for places in the LLHM 2022 is free to enter. Those who win a place will need to pay £57.50, which will pay for the organisation of the event – with profits being donated to Tommy’s to help their work funding research into miscarriage, premature birth and stillbirth.
