A GROUP OF locals in Barking & Dagenham took part in a community clean up as part of a range of activities for half term. The Little Litter League park clean up initiative was led and organised by Barking resident Emdad Rahman, head coach at Ekota Academy.
Also in attendance was the sports club CEO Mizanur Rahman. Seventeen people took part in the school holiday clean up, working in family bubbles to fill up seven bags of trash and litter.
Father and son team Nazir Ali and Musa collected a bag of rubbish. “I really enjoyed time with my Dad,” said Musa. “We collected quite a lot of mess. I find it sad that we don’t take care to keep our parks and area clean. I found it fun and hope I can do it again soon.”
Team Leader Emdad Rahman said, “This was a great learning experience for everyone involved. It was fun and interactive. The biggest benefit here is we are learning about loving our neighbourhood through excellent community service.
“We also hope that we will inspire others to do similar projects in their respective neighbourhoods. Thanks to Roding Rubbish for advising us and providing rubbish collection bags.”
The Little Litter League encourages households to join in cleaning activities and is designed to promote family bonding while raising awareness of cleaner communities.
