THE POLICE investigation into the fatal stabbing of Abiola Akinrele have led to more suspects being charged with involvement in the murder. Akinrele was found, fatally injured, in Stondon Walk, East Ham in the afternoon of 29th December.
The first man to be charged with murder was Rayhan Ali, 18, of Abbots Road, East Ham. He appeared at Thames Magistrates Court on 2nd January and was remanded in custody, with the case being transferred to the Old Bailey.
Two other men were charged with murder on 3rd January and appeared at Thames Magistrates Court on 4th January. They were remanded in custody pending a further hearing of the case at the Old Bailey. They are:
•Harry Ehibor, 20, of Chalk Farm Road, Camden; and
•Saeed Farouk, 21, of Macaulay Road, East Ham.
A fourth man from an undisclosed part of East London, aged 20, was arrested on 3rd January at a residential address in Essex. He was subsequently charged with murder and has also been remanded in custody pending a further hearing at the Old Bailey. He is Junaid Sulaiman, 20, of Prince Regent Lane, Newham.
A post mortem has now established that Abiola Akinrele died as a result of a stab injury to the heart. His next of kind continue to receive support from the police.
There have been two further arrests. A 17 year old girl was arrested on 1st January on suspicion of murder. She has been released on bail and must report back to the police later this month.
